The Standard of Tibet Terrier
The characterised desirable image of our
Tibet Terrier has been the standard for decades and
changed only slightly. On the 30th November, 1990 the
standard was defined with the number - 209 - with FCI:
GENERAL APPEARANCE: robustly, from middle size, long-haired,
with square silhouette, resolute expression
CHARACTERISTIC FEATURES: lively, good-natured. Loyal
companion with many winning traits.
BEINGS: giving change, watchfully,
intelligently and courageously; neither vehemently nor
cantankerous. Towards stranger cautiously.
HEAD AND SKULL: Skull of middle length, neither broadly
nor roughly, from the ears to the eyes a little bit narrow
growing, between the ears neither arched nor absolutely level.
Cheekbone crookedly, but not excessively distinctive, so that it
is precurved. More clearly, but not excessively distinctive stop
by height of the ocular part. Strong catch, well developed lower
jaw. The length of the eyes up to nasal point is like the length
of the eyes up to cranial base. Nose black. Head richly with the
long hair overcast which falls forwards over the eyes. In the
lower jaw there is a small, not excessively qualified beard.
EYES: largely, around, neither stick out nor sunken,
quite far apart, deep brown, eyelids black.
EARS: hanging, not too close in the head enclosed carried,
V-grows hairs shaped, not too largely, excessively.
SET OF TEETH: Scissors set of teeth or reverse scissors
set of teeth. The incisor row forms a light curve and the
incisors in regular distance and vertically in the jaw stand
FOREHAND: strongly hairy, shoulder well at an angle bend
back; runs just and in parallel standing. Pastern
BODY: slightly at an angle, well muscular, compactly and
powerfully. Length of the scapula point to the beginning of the
tail like withers height. Wide-handing back chest. Put straight
over the rib ship. Lumbar part briefly, easily crooked, just to
croup.
BACKHAND: strongly hairy, knee joint well bent,
low-pressure area-standing ankle joints.
PAWS: largely, around, between the toes and bales richly
grows hairs. Well level on the bale standing, no curvature in
the paws.
ROD: Medium long, quite high set and happily rolled up
about the back carried. Very excessively persists. A crease in
the rod often seems and is permitted.
PACE, MOVEMENT: Quickly, good precedence, powerful push. In
step and trot the hind legs neither within nor beyond the track
should be based.
COAT OF HAIR: Twice. Unterwool well and woolly. Deck hair
excessively, well, nevertheless, neither silky nor woolly, long
flatly or corrugated, but not wavy.
COLOUR: White, gold, cream, grey or smoke-coloured, black,
2-coloured or 3-coloured; actually, every Colour is permitted
with the exception of chocolate-brown or liver-brown.
SIZE: Shoulder height with male dogs 35.6 - 40.6 cm, bitches
slightly smaller.
MISTAKE: Every divergence of the precalled points should
be looked as a mistake whose assessment should stand in the
precise relation to the degree of the divergence.
NB: Male Dogs must show two obviously normally developed
testicles which are completely in the scrotum.
